Carolina Hurricanes and Other Celebrities to Participate in 7th Annual Jimmy V Celebrity Junior Golf Classic

(Cary, NC) Each year thousands of children across North Carolina are affected by cancer. The Jimmy V Celebrity Junior Golf Classic is reaching out to these children and supporting their fight against pediatric cancer by raising money for research at the sixth annual Jimmy V Celebrity Junior Golf Classic. The event is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh. 

Golfers between the ages of 6 and 17 will participate in this fun-filled event that pairs local celebrities with children for a day of fun and laughter. In 2006, the Jimmy V Celebrity Junior Golf Classic helped fund a $250,000 local pediatric cancer research project through The V Foundation for Cancer Research. 

“The response of the community has been truly inspiring since the inception of the Junior Classifive years ago,” stated Larry E. Wollett, Tournament Executive Director for the Jimmy V Celebrity JuniorGolf Classic. “Our format, which pairs children with celebrities, is the perfect model to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Dedicated volunteers and strong local support are the keys to our success.”

As part of the Jimmy V Celebrity Junior Golf Classic, participants will attend a Pairings Party at AMF Pleasant Valley Bowling Alley on Sunday, June 17. The Pairings Party will feature food, games and funfor all participants, including a silent auction and a raffle. Celebrities that participated in the 2006 Jimmy V Junior include Eric Cole, Glen Wesley and Shane Willis from the Carolina Hurricanes, as well as Bates Battaglia from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
